Leek Wootton Beavers helped guard the Bells at All Saints Church

Five Beavers and two leaders joined a member of the church to sleep overnight to ‘guard’ the bells at All Saints Church.

In January 2015, five bells at All Saints Church were removed from the church tower, for the first time in 100 years, for refurbishment.

In June 2015, the bells were returned to the church after restoration, with the addition of a new treble bell and a second-hand tenor bell. While the bells were on the ground, the church must be occupied.

The Beavers marched around the church to check for intruders, followed a trail, made bell biscuits for afternoon tea at the church and slept overnight in the church. After making pancakes for breakfast they visited the bell tower, up the steep narrow stairs, before heading home, tired but, to quote one of them, after an ‘awesome’ time.
